Today was my last day in the office.  Monday I start my new job (at the same company) - Instructional Designer.  I get to work 100 percent from home - yay!

I spent 2 years at that company doing training, and I’ll miss some people but man I’m glad to be moving on to something else!

My friend Elizabeth - our admin at work - sent me flowers last week and took me out to a VERY expensive steak dinner.  It beat the most expensive dinner I’ve ever had by a $50 margin, easy.  I’ll miss her the most.

My friend Dee, who I met at a previous job, sent me flowers at work today.

So I have two bouquets of flowers here at home.  I’m so spoiled!

The admin Tiffany, who just got promoted herself, took me out to lunch too.

Funny - when I found out 9 days ago that I got the job, I called Yo Yo Boy right away.  He never once asked me anything about it, or emailed me a congrats, nothing.  He didn’t even care.

Yet all of these other people are so supportive.  It really shows that Yo Yo Boy never even was a decent friend.

  1. F**kin’ Yo Yo Boy! Just say the word and I’ll round up my posse to kick his ass! What a prick, giving all of us guys a bad rep. Anyway, congrats. I would love to work from home–actually, I did at my last job. They expected me to work my regular 37.5 hours at the office and 37.5 PLUS from home. Screw that! BTW, all guys are a-holes–you know that, don’t you? That’s what I always told my daughters, anyway. “Don’t trust any male except your PAPPY.” That’s what I learned ‘em.

@Frank: Aw Frank dear! I don’t think all guys are assholes. I think there’s something about me that makes them become assholes. Something about me causes the guy to think, “She’s not worth even treating with rudimentary common courtesy.” I don’t know why. I’m sure on some level it’s my fault, but I am not conscious of how it is such. I won’t give up hope! But I have to say that yo-yo boy treating me like I’m nothing yet again has really put a damper on what should be a very happy time. So I’m putting him completely out of my mind.

  3. Congratulations on the promotion! Don’t worry about YYB — the rest of us know you’re terrific!

  4. Congrats! Working 100% from home should be nice. All the benefits of a job, AND all the benefits of unemployment in one pajama-clad package!

  5. Very nice of your friends to do such nice things for you! Congrats on your new position, I hope you love it.
