Over at List of the Day, the author cited Mr. Bojangles as his most hated song. In the comments I shared my personal most hated song.
Red Red Wine by UB40. The very very worst song ever recorded.
Although thanks to the relentless and constant commercials for the movie, I think the theme song to “Mama Mia” is starting to overtake Red Red Wine for the “shoot me in the head if I have to listen to it one more time” title.

Worst song ever? Come on, it has GOT to be “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” by Bobby “Endless Torture” McFerrin.
“Sometimes When We Touch” … stupidest lyrics ever. (Though I’m no fan of “Red Red Wine” either.)
@Jim:
Yeah, “Sometimes when we touch” has overly-sappy lyrics. But the notes of the song itself doesn’t send me screaming into the streets. I don’t know why I hate Red Red Wine so much, but within the first three notes of the song, I want to stick my head underwater.
@Frank:
So many people hate “Don’t Worry Be Happy”. I can see why they do. I find it mildly annoying, but not to the extent most people dislike it. Maybe I used up all my song hate on “Red Red Wine”.
I actually liked Red, Red Wine the few times I heard it. Now, I also hate it–and I really like UB40. It’s one of those songs that gets worse every time you listen to it–like a build up of aural toxins that eventually destroy your eardrums.
The very worst song ever recorded? There’s a new one.
It is “I Seen Beyonce At Burger King” by Cazwell featuring Jonny Makeup.

Right now, I keep listening to it over and over even though I know it is really, really bad. It is like a horrible accident that secretly makes you laugh.
